We also take cleanliness and safety very seriously. Our open-concept grooming facility allows full visibility, so clients can see our workspace and staff at all times. Nail Trim Events 

Upcoming Nail Trim Event: Tuesday November 25th $4:30-7:00pm at the shop

At Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat, we love giving back to the community that’s supported us for over 10 years! Our Nail Trim Events are an easy, affordable way to keep your pets healthy — while helping animals in need.

  • When: Join us on the last Tuesday of every month from 4:30pm-7:00pm (except for August and December) for our community Nail Trim Events!

  • When You Arrive: Please come inside or text (306) 692-8166 to let us know that you and your pet have arrived. We’ll message you when it’s your turn to come in. This helps us keep the space calm, organized, and safe for all animals while we care for their paws.

  • Why nail care matters: Regular nail trims are essential for your pet’s comfort and well-being. Overgrown nails can cause pain, affect posture, and even lead to joint issues. Our certified groomers make the process quick, gentle, and stress-free — ensuring your furry friends stay happy and healthy on their feet.

  • Nail Trims are a CASH ONLY donation for the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

  • Giving back: Every dollar from our Nail Trim Events is donated directly to the Moose Jaw Humane Society to support their important work rescuing, caring for, and rehoming local animals in need.

At Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat, we provide a calm, caring, and comfortable space for your pets while you’re away. After 10 years of proudly serving the Moose Jaw community with professional grooming, we’re thrilled to now offer our brand-new Pet Boarding Retreat.

Your pets will enjoy personalized, one-on-one care in a peaceful, home-like environment where their comfort always comes first — whether it’s for an overnight stay or an extended getaway.

Dog Boarding

Our dog suites are spacious, climate-controlled, and designed for comfort. Each guest enjoys soft bedding, one-on-one interaction, and personalized attention from our caring team.

We provide:

  • Regular outdoor breaks and individual playtime with our staff — we do not mix dogs from different households, ensuring safe, one-on-one interaction and attention

  • ​Access to our fully gated, large outdoor dog run for fresh air, safe potty breaks, and playtime under supervision

  • Fresh water, daily cleaning, and meal service tailored to your dog’s routine

  • Mental stimulation activities, including puzzle feeders and lick mats, to keep your dog’s mind active and relaxed during their stay

  • Optional add-ons like walks, or grooming before pickup

  • Constant supervision and gentle care throughout their stay

Whether they’re social or prefer quiet relaxation, we tailor each stay to your dog’s unique needs and personality — because every guest deserves to feel special.

Cat Boarding

Our feline guests enjoy peaceful, private cat condos away from the canines and the hustle of the shop. Soft lighting, gentle music, and daily enrichment keep them calm and content while you’re away.

We provide:

  • Cozy bedding and private feeding areas

  • Daily litter cleaning and fresh water

  • Playtime or cuddle sessions (on their terms, of course!)

  • Optional grooming services during their stay

Bird Boarding

Our feathered friends deserve comfort and care too! At Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat, we offer safe, quiet, and attentive boarding for birds of all kinds. Whether you have a talkative parrot, a cheerful cockatiel, or a gentle finch, we ensure their stay is peaceful, stimulating, and stress-free.

We provide:

  • Clean, climate-controlled enclosures or the option to bring your bird’s own cage for familiarity

  • Daily interaction and observation from our caring staff

  • Fresh food and water provided according to your bird’s normal feeding routine

  • Gentle music and natural lighting to create a calm environment

  • Optional extras like misting, perch cleaning, and foraging activities for enrichment.

Our goal is to make your bird’s stay as comfortable and reassuring as possible. With individualized attention and a tranquil setting, they’ll feel cared for until you return home.

Please Note: For your bird’s safety and comfort, we ask that owners bring their own cage and preferred food to maintain consistency and reduce stress during their stay.

Your pets’ well-being is our top priority. Our facility is fully insured, climate-controlled,

and carefully monitored to ensure every guest’s comfort and safety.

 

In the province of Saskatchewan, there are currently no formal guidelines for kennel sizes,

time spent outdoors, or housing standards in boarding facilities, regulations in this industry

are quite limited. That’s why, when we designed Spike’s Pet Boarding Retreat, we built it

around one guiding principle: we created the kind of space we would want for our own

animals.

 

We’ve invested in:

  • A hospital-grade air exchange system for clean, fresh air circulation

  • Stainless steel kennel doors and durable, easy-to-clean concrete suites for hygiene and comfort

  • Flooring that’s disinfected after every guest, using high-quality cleaners to remove germs and keep everything spotless

  • Individual water and food dishes for each guest, there are no shared community bowls

  • A fully gated outdoor dog run for safe, supervised exercise and potty breaks

  • Full cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, bedding, toys, and kennels between every stay, so each guest arrives to a completely fresh and clean environment

 

We also maintain a no group play policy to ensure safety and reduce stress. Dogs from other households will never be together, but dogs from the same family are welcome to enjoy playtime together under supervision. Each guest receives individual, one-on-one attention and quality interaction with our caring kennel attendants.

At Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat, we go far beyond basic standards, because safety, cleanliness, and compassionate care aren’t optional. They’re the foundation of everything we do.

What to Bring for Your Pet’s Stay

 

To help your pet feel comfortable and at home during their retreat, please bring along the following:

 

For Dogs & Cats:

  • Your pet’s regular food (pre-portioned if possible) to keep their diet consistent

  • Treats or snacks they love

  • Leash, collar, or harness for safe transitions in and out of the facility

  • Favorite toy or blanket for familiarity and comfort

  • Any required medications with clear instructions

  • Emergency contact information (including your veterinarian’s details)

 

Required Documents:

  • Up-to-date vaccination records

    • Dogs: Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) are required; Bordetella (kennel cough) is recommended but not mandatory

    • Cats: Rabies and FVRCP

 

Bringing familiar items and keeping their routine consistent helps your pet settle in quickly and feel relaxed during their stay.

Boarding Policies

 

We want every pet’s stay at Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat to be safe, comfortable, and worry-free. To help us provide the best care possible, please review our boarding policies below:

 

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in: Between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM

  • Check-out: Between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM

  • Early drop-offs or late pick-ups may be available upon request for an additional fee.

  • Please allow a few extra minutes at drop-off to review your pet’s care instructions and any special needs.

 

Vaccinations

  • All pets must be up-to-date on vaccinations before boarding.

    • Dogs: Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) are required; Bordetella (kennel cough) is recommended but not mandatory

    • Cats: Rabies and FVRCP

  • Proof of vaccination is required prior to check-in.

 

Belongings

  • You are welcome to bring your pet’s food, bedding, and a few favorite toys.

  • If possible, please label all items clearly with your pet’s name.

  • While we do our best to return all belongings, Spike Grooming & Pet Boarding Retreat is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

 

Medications

  • We are happy to administer oral or topical medications as directed.

  • Please bring all medications in their original containers with clear dosage instructions.

 

Deposits & Cancellations

  • A deposit may be required to confirm reservations during peak times.

  • We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations.

 

Health & Behaviour

  • For everyone’s safety, we cannot accept pets that are aggressive or showing signs of illness at check-in.

  • Dogs from other households will never be together. Each guest enjoys their own secure space and individual attention from our caring staff.
